Toyota has continued its leadership in the Australian market for the 23rd consecutive year with 239,863 new vehicle sales in 2025 – the company’s second highest Australian sales result on record. The 2025 result exceeds the publicly stated target from the beginning of the year by 9 per cent.

With a market share of 19.3 per cent, almost one in every five cars sold in Australia in 2025 was a Toyota. Eight Toyota vehicles led their individual segments: Corolla, Camry, RAV4, LandCruiser wagon, HiLux 4x2, HiAce Commuter bus, Coaster and HiAce van.

RAV4 continued its incredible popularity in Australia and was Toyota’s best-selling vehicle in 2025 with 51,947 sales. For the sixth consecutive year, RAV4 was also the number 1 selling SUV in the Australian marketplace. November 2025 was the best month of sales for RAV4 Hybrid on record with 6,390 vehicles delivered.

2025 saw the introduction of the new ninth-generation Toyota HiLux – a vehicle that has become part of the cultural fabric of Australia. The Toyota HiLux finished 2025 with 51,297 sales.

The Toyota Corolla was the best-selling passenger vehicle in the country with 18,968 sales in 2025.

As a leader in hybrid technology, 48.6 per cent of all Toyota sales in 2025 were hybrid.

Crucial to the success of Toyota in Australia is the leading brand’s extensive dealer network – the largest in Australia.  Toyota’s far-reaching dealer network ensures that the brand’s reputation for Quality, Durability and Reliability is upheld at every touch point – a significant contributor to Toyota being named, once again, the most trusted automotive brand by Roy Morgan.

In addition, Toyota has Australia’s most extensive genuine parts distribution and service network. Complementing the existing network in Sydney, Melbourne and Darwin, this year Toyota opened a new state-of-the-art parts distribution centre in Perth, with a second in Brisbane expected to open this year, all of which are crucial to supporting customers and providing peace-of-mind.

Quote attributable to Matthew Callachor, President & CEO, Toyota Motor Corporation Australia:

“For more than six decades Toyota has been part of Australia’s story, with over eight million vehicles delivered to customers across the nation. This legacy is built on our reputation for quality, durability and reliability.

“In 2025, we celebrated the launch of the ninth-generation HiLux – a vehicle that continues its impressive popularity in Australia. Looking ahead, the HiLux story enters an exciting new chapter. In 2026, we will introduce the first-ever battery electric HiLux, followed by a fuel-cell electric variant in 2028.

“Our RAV4 remains Australia’s most popular SUV, a testament to its versatility and appeal. In 2026, we will introduce the next-generation RAV4, including, for the first time, a plug-in hybrid option.

“These milestones reinforce our commitment to a multi-pathway strategy, ensuring Australians have access to the right technologies for today and tomorrow. Recently, we announced our ambition of ‘30 by 2030’; a clear aspiration to achieve 30% of our sales from zero and low-emission vehicles by the end of the decade.

“2025 was another successful year, made possible by the dedication of our employees, dealers, suppliers and customers. It is through their ongoing commitment to the brand that Toyota remains the most trusted automotive brand in Australia.”
